“Cilia – Amazing Organelles that Function in Nearly Everything”.
Prof. Jarema Malicki.
Short description of the lecture content:
Cilia are finger-like cell surface protrusions that display a remarkable diversity of functions. They are intimately involved in at least five aspects of vertebrate biology: early embryonic patterning, sensory perception, tubulogenesis, cell motility and metabolism. This lecture will cover insights into cilia structure that my laboratory obtained using super-resolution microscopy. I will also present data on the function of cilia in secretion and signal transduction.
