“Phospholipid biosynthesis in fibroblast-like synoviocytes derived from osteoarthritic patients”.
PhD Katarzyna Służalska, Department of Protein Engineering (previous affiliation Laboratory for Experimental Orthopaedics, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Justus-Liebig University Giessen, Germany).

Presentation will be in English.

Phospholipids, together with hyaluronan and lubricin, are involved in the lubrication within human articular joints. The levels of lubricants in synovial fluid are associated with the health status of the joint. However, the biosynthesis of phospholipids in human joints remains poorly understood. This study aimed to determine the effects of various cytokines, growth factors and drugs on the biosynthesis of phospholipids using stable isotope-labelled fibroblast-like synoviocytes obtained from osteoarthritic patients.
